A few blogs ago, I quoted MIT Professor Jonathan Gruber – a so-called “architect”, along with Ezekiel Emanuel (yep, Rahm\’s brother) – of ObamaCare. In that quote, he told us that the only way to enact this Obamination was by hiding its true nature from the public. His exact words: “…call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical for the thing to pass”.
Well, according to Investors Business Daily (IBD), Gruber had a point. Not that American voters are stupid (which, I strongly suspect, self-proclaimed ubermenschen like Gruber and Emanuel think they “know” for a fact), but that keeping the true nature of ObamaCare from them was integral to its enactment:
Morethan four years after Obama signed ObamaCare into law, it\’s becomeincreasingly clear that Gruber wasn\’t exaggerating. The law\’s vastweb of accounting gimmicks, cross subsidies, taxes and fees makes itincreasingly difficult to know what ObamaCare costs of care fromconsumers, businesses and taxpayers.
Healthcare.govand the other exchanges were originally supposed to open in October, but the White House pushed the date back a month. The administrationsaid that it would give insurers more time to figure out next year\’srates, but critics said that the administration meant the delay tohide ObamaCare\’s 2015 premiums until after the midterm elections.
Shopperscould get a peek at rates for the first time this week.
Anothercomplication is that those who automatically re-enroll in theirhealth plans could be in for a rude surprise. Not only could premiumsbe far higher than before, but subsidies – which depend on bothincome and plan prices – could be smaller.
Enrolleeswill be able to find out only by reapplying for coverage through theexchanges, something that more than half of enrollees say that theydon\’t plan to do, according to a Bankrate survey.
Note to Gruber, Emanuel, and whomever else shares their view of the John and Jane Q. Public. They ain\’t as stupid as you think. One look at the polls measuring approval or disapproval of ObamaCare would tell you that in a moment.
In fact, let me help out. Here\’s a look at just the last few months:

Notice a trend? Like every poll, without exception, regardless of who is doing the polling?
The Democrat Party, for some reason, thinks that because it has decided what should be done for the country, the country must therefore agree with the Democrat Party. Well, that chart tells you otherwise.
Just like with Voter ID, where every poll shows most people….including most Democrats…support it, but the Democrat Party (for reasons I suspect are far less than salutary) does not.
Maybe that has something to do with the election results this past Tuesday.
And let\’s not leave our wonderful “neutral” media out of this. How many of these venues have withheld key pieces of what ObamaCare really is and what it really does? On whose behalf? Certainly not the public\’s….unless, of course, they think the less the public knows, the better they like it.
Y\’know, that has a ring of credibility to it.
“Keep \’em ignorant and you own \’em.” That about sums it up for the Grubers, the Emanuels….and their Accomplice Media too.
