THE FREEING OF SGT. TAHMOORESSI

After languishing in Mexican jails for over half a year – for the “crime” of making a wrong turn and winding up on a road into Mexico that there was no way to exit – Marine Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi is now free…

…with great thanks to Greta Van Susteren and Montel Williams — and absolutely no thanks of any kind whatsoever to the Obama administration.

Jeffrey Lord, at newsbusters.org, has written a very complete and very cleverly constructed blog about how Mr. Tahmooressi eventually got out of jail and back to the states.  I very much hope you use the link and read every word of it.

But for right now I want to show you this excerpt, because it is so important for us to understand what kind of administration is currently in office:

Wherewas the actual President of the United States? Where was VicePresident Biden? Secretary of State Kerry? Why in the world did ittake Greta, Montel, an ex-UN Ambassador, three congressmen andAndrew\’s mother to do the job that in fact should have been done bythe Obama administration?

VanSusteren was a star in getting Tahmooressi released. She wasrelentless.

Goingdown to the border she personally drove the route that the AmericanMarine had driven on his fateful trip, illustrating in living colorhow exactly his mistake was made, how easy it was to make thatmistake and showing the utter absurdity of the entire incident. Shespoke with his mother, she broadcast from outside the prison, shemanaged to get through on the phone to the imprisoned Tahmoressi, relaying reports of his brutal treatment at the hands of Mexicanauthorities. She never forgot him – and neither did her audience.

Infact, the entire incident – its conclusion coming as it does just asPresident Obama is making it clear he will issue an executive orderproviding amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants – goes straightto the issue of what exactly the US government was doing to get oneof its own citizens out of a clearly unjust and dangerous situationin a foreign country.  A foreign country that is daily allowing illegals to cross the American border – with a promise of amnesty, not prison, awaiting them. The difference in treatment is startling.

How could President Obama have allowed this to happen.  How could he have sat by, silently, for over 200 days, as Sgt. Tahmooressi was held and treated in this manner?

Is Mexico somehow above us in the food chain?  Do we have to sit back and allow this treatment of one of our citizens because Mexico, and/or its President, entrique pena nieto, has something over us?

What possible reason was there for the Obama administration not to intercede in some way — other than – again, as he has so many times in the past – bowing down to another country and putting the USA in a subordinate position?

Mexico is a human rights hellhole.  Despite its vast economic resources, millions and millions of Mexican citizens – other than the wealthy and near-wealthy majority – are treated like sewer rats.  That is why nearly 10% of the entire country (NOT a typo, we\’re talking about almost 12 million out of 120 million) have escaped Mexico by any means necessary, legal or illegal, to come to the USA.

It is bad enough that Mexico treats its own citizens so poorly that millions of them would rather live here illegally, in the shadows, than stay in their own country as full citizens.  Does the President of the United States have to allow Mexico to treat one of our citizens the same way – especially a man who has honored us with his military service.

The day Barack Obama and the people around him leave office will be a day the air is fresher throughout this country.  It can\’t come a second too soon.
