Today\’s quote comes to us from Barack Obama. It was made in a 2008 (i.e. pre-Presidential) interview weaselzippers.com has unearthed a video of, with former New York Times columnist Bob Herbert.
Here is what Mr. Obama had to say about the way he would allocate his time as President:
“Thebargain that any president strikes with is, you give me thisoffice and in turn my, fears, doubts, insecurities, foibles, need for sleep, family life, vacations, leisure is gone. I am giving myself to you. And the American people should have no patience for whatever\’s goin\’ through your head, because you\’ve got a job to do. And so how I think about it is, that you don\’t make that decision unless you are prepared to make that sacrifice, that trade-off, that bargain.”
This weekend, while the world was in the process of exploding in Syria, in Iraq, in the Ukraine, In Israel and Gaza, on our southern border and in Ferguson, Missouri, Mr. Obama was on Martha\’s Vineyard, taking a two week vacation and playing his 186th round of golf since becoming President.
I won\’t tell you why Barack Obama wins Quote Of The Day Honors, because I assume you already know.
