The cease-fire between Israel and hamas-controlled Gaza is over, though Israel agreed to extend it.
Why was it not extended? Here is your answer, excerpted from Elad Benari\’s article at israelnationalnews.com:.
Hamasspokesman Sami Abu Zuhri on Friday laid the blame on Israel for theceasefire in Gaza not being extended, saying the Jewish state did notprovide a clear response to Hamas\’s conditions.
Speakingat a news conference in Gaza City and quoted by the Ma\’annews agency, Abu Zuhri said that the lack of response underminedPalestinian demands and that “Israeli stubbornness led to notextending the ceasefire.”
Heaccused Israel of stalling and wasting time, adding that it mustaccept all of Hamas\’s conditions.
Hesaid that Israel rejected the establishment of an airport or aseaport and refuses to expand the fishing zone.
Thethree-day ceasefire expired at 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning, and Hamaspromptly beganfiring rocket barrages at southern Israel.
Interesting concept:
-hamas operates under a charter – written as a religion-based mission statement – which calls, among other things, for Israel\’s complete annihilation, the death of all Jews both in and out of Israel, and the unequivocal rejection of all peace talks or negotiations of any kind.
-hamas cannot pay its own “government” employees, because it uses the aid money it receives to instead buy weaponry with which to attack Israel.
-hamas uses the concrete and steel it receives, which could build infrastructure and improve its people\’s lives, to instead build a series of secret tunnels into Israel to be used for terrorist activities (as its own videos show).
And then, with that charter in place, that allocation of aid money, and that usage of concrete and steel, hamas wonders why Israel does not agree to all its demands.
To tell you the truth, I don\’t find it as hard to understand as hamas claims to. Do you?
One other thing: Allow me to point out – again, as I and others have in the past – that Israel does not control all of Gaza\’s borders. Gaza\’s entire southern border is with Egypt. And Egypt keeps its border closed just as tightly as Israel does.
But you don\’t see any bombs heading Egypt\’s way, do you?
Even though Egypt is Arab and vastly Muslim, just like Gaza, and even though the hamas charter does not call for the annihilation of Egypt and death of all Muslims, as it does for Israel and Jews, Egypt keeps that border shut tight.
Hey, here\’s a possible reason: maybe, despite all its areas of commonality, Egypt finds hamas-controlled Gaza just as undesirable as Israel does. And maybe, if both Israel and Egypt are on the same page regarding hamas-controlled Gaza, the problem is not Israel or Egypt; it is hamas-controlled Gaza.
Think about it…the effort should take, oh, about one tenth of a second.
