THE CLINTON FOUNDATION’S FOREIGN CONTRIBUTORS

This is an easy blog to write.  I’ll just put up the following excerpt from Julianna Goldman’s article for CBS news, and ask you to think about what Democrats would be saying if this were a Republican presidential candidate:

A CBS News investigation has found that at least one foreign company with close ties to its government has been giving generously to the foundation run by Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.

The foundation has raised at least $42 million from foreign governments – and according to an analysis by CBS News – at least $170 million from foreign entities and individuals.

One donor – Rilin Enterprises- pledged $2 million in 2013 to the Clinton Foundation’s endowment. The company is a privately-held Chinese construction and trade conglomerate and run by billionaire Wang Wenliang, who is also a delegate to the Chinese parliament.

So tell me:  what would Democrats say if a potential Republican candidate was running a foundation that was getting money – $170 MILLION DOLLARS (that we know about so far) – from foreign sources, both countries and individuals within those countries who are rich enough to have some pull with their governments?

Would they be asking, for example, what these countries, and these individuals, expected for their money?  You bet they would.

And would questions like that be reasonable to ask?  You bet they would be.

I can already hear Ms. Clinton, in chorus with Carville, Davis, Wasserman-Schultz, Reid and Pelosi, assuring us that the Clinton foundation does nothing but good works (and, by the way, it does do a lot of good for a lot of people)…

…while ignoring the benefits that same foundation provides to Bill and Hill…

… and desperately trying to divert the narrative away from what those foreign countries and foreign individuals, would expect for their largesse from a President Hillary Clinton.

Well, look at the bright side, Hillary.  This issue is big enough so that it might push the email scandal off the front burner for a while.

Think of it as being a little like having a splitting headache and then breaking your toe:  the pain from your toe makes you temporarily forget the headache.
