“POCAHONTAS”: EFFECT AND CAUSE

Effect:  President Trump, while honoring two surviving Native American “code talkers” who were so important in World War II, telling them (and us) that:

“You were here long before any of us were here. Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas.”

What a needless, classless thing to say.  Another reason I have, for years, called Donald Trump The World’s Richest Barroom Loudmouth.

Cause:  Elizabeth Warren, reacting to President Trump’s comment:

“It is deeply unfortunate that the President of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur.”

It was Elizabeth Warren’s lie about her heritage – the lie that facilitated both her academic and political career – that Mr. Trump was talking about.  Without Elizabeth Warren’s lie, the “Pocahontas” comment would not have been made.

I do not believe President Trump intended any racial slur at all.  I believe his intention was to put the wood to Elizabeth Warren, nothing else.

He shouldn’t have made that needless, classless comment.  She shouldn’t have been a liar.

There’s the effect and cause.  You decide which of the two is worse.

  • Princess Lie-A-Watha speak with Forked Tongue.

Her professorship was gained as a result of LYING on her Harvard job application about being a Native American (1/32nd).

No DNA testing (which is virtually foolproof), no archival records, no family tree — just “I have high cheekbones, and the Indian story is a family legend”.
