THE JOB PARTICIPATION RATE

The numbers are in.  And,despite a net loss of jobs in September (probably hurricane-related), the unemployment rate dropped .2%.  It now stands at 4.2% – the lowest in 16 years.

How could this happen?

It happened because the Job Participation Rate (JPR), i.e. the percentage of people either employed or seeking employment, rose to 63.1% – the highest in over 3 1/2 years.

Since people looking for jobs count in the unemployment data and people who have given up looking do not, this means unemployment has dropped even though more people are out there seeking jobs, thus being counted in the data.

Here are the Job Participation Rates, by month, for the past ten years.  See if you notice a trend.

If you used the above link, you saw that when Barack Obama took office, the JPR was at 65.7%.  The month Donald Trump won the presidency, with his message of jobs, jobs, jobs, it was at 62.6% – down a devastating 5%.

Now it is at 63.1% and, we hope, going to continue on the upswing.

Should Donald Trump get credit for any of this?

That’s for you to decide.  But do not expect our wonderful “neutral” mainstream media to give him any.

Really?!?! What in heaven’s name has DJT accomplished in his first months in office that would allow him to take credit for ANYthing?
