NY TIMES AND ISRAEL: ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW SNEAKS IN

Before posting the key part of this blog, it is necessary to re-establish that the self-hating Jewish ownership of the New York Times continues its thoroughly one-sided coverage of the current Israel-hamas conflict.

Clay Waters, of newsbusters.org, does a superb job of demonstrating this in his latest blog.  I urge you to use this link and read it – because, if you do, there will be no doubt in your mind about how anti-Israel the powers that be at The Times really are.

That said, a remarkable thing happened this morning.  The Times actually featured a letter to the editor (certainly not an editorial, or an op-ed piece, of course, but just a letter to the editor) which intelligently, logically expresses an Israeli perspective on this conflict – and, by so doing, makes mincemeat of the Times\’ despicably anti-Israel, therefore pro-hamas, slant.

Here it is, in its entirety – I wouldn\’t leave out a single word:

Tothe Editor:

Re”ThroughLens, 4 Boys Dead by Gaza Shore,” a July 17 first-personaccount by the photographer Tyler Hicks:

Itmight seem strange to be writing condolences to Gazan mothers fromwithin the four walls of an Israeli bomb shelter, but such is thesurreal nature of our lives here lately. As an Israeli mother, I readof the deaths of four young cousins on a Gaza beach on Wednesday, andcried. For them and for their families.

Empathyis an odd emotion to conjure while running for cover from rocketsthat are being launched from Gaza into Israel with the singular aimof killing us. (A siren, signifying an incoming missile, soundedminutes after I read this story.) That more Israelis haven\’t beenkilled is thanks only to how practiced we are in running to our bombshelters. Make no mistake, though, we are, right now, an entirepopulation, living in terror. This is an impossible way to live, andwe have no choice but to try to stop it, diplomatically ormilitarily.

Thedeaths of these boys is tragic, but they were not intentionallytargeted, and Israelis see the occasional accidental killing ofinnocents as one of the horrific parts of this awful war that no onebut Hamas seems to want.

ThatHamas, the ruling power in Gaza, doesn\’t protect its citizens bybuilding shelters is a travesty. Far worse, the deliberateinstallation of rocket launchers within civilian population centers,in schools, hospitals, mosques and homes, is criminal.

MostIsraelis share this feeling of empathy with innocent Gazans. Webelieve that these same Gazans understand that we must defendourselves from dangerous, incessant rocket fire. We extend our handwhen they are ready to take it sincerely in peace, and in themeantime, we pray that there will be no further loss of innocentlife.

I congratulate whomever is in charge of Letters to the Editor for selecting this one….and hope it doesn\’t get him/her in trouble with the editorial board and ownership of the paper (which I assume to be entirely in concert with each other).

I also hope the editorial board and ownership READ this letter, in the hope it will convey to them that counting the number of dead on each side a) does not necessarily indicate who is responsible for the deaths and b) does not define which side has the moral high ground.

One last thought:  do not expect a similar letter to the editor of The Times, or any other media venue, from a woman in Gaza, crying for Israeli children.  To show that emotion outwardly is to risk death.  Literally.
