My opinion of the impeachment movement currently being floated by Sarah Palin and a few other Republicans, is the same as a football coach\’s opinion of the player who was taunted by an opposing player until he got angry enough to slug him, and get thrown out of the game: “You happy now? He\’s in and you\’re out. What did you accomplish?”
Impeaching President Obama will have the same affect. President Obama will not be removed from office – but Republicans will:
a) take months, maybe the rest of his presidency – to fight the impeachment through,
b) they will be ridiculed daily by media,
c) the impeachment will overshadow every scandal that is currently taking Mr. Obama down anyway, and
d) it will energize the Democrat base for November so that, instead of running away from a sinking President and his scandals, they will run to the polls to defend him.
If that happens, I will be saying to Republicans what that football coach said to the player: “You happy now? He\’s in and you\’re out. What did you accomplish?”
Forget impeachment. Period.
