The Department of Justice, after reviewing the fact that lois “liar” lerner, while Director of the Exempt Organizations Unit at the Internal Revenue Service, made good and sure to prevent 501(c)4 applicants which seemed opposed to then-President Obama from getting tax exempt status, will not be prosecuted.
Why the free pass for this liar, who walked into a house committee hearing, informed them she didn’t do anything wrong, and then pleaded the fifth, thus not answering any of their questions? Here’s your answer, from Joseph Lawler’s article for the Washington Examiner:
(Assistant Attorney General Stephen) Boyd wrote Friday that the department “carefully reviewed” its original 2015 decision not to prosecute, and had new attorneys independently review the investigation. He said that to convict Lerner, it would be necessary to prove that she intentionally discriminated against the groups based on their political views.
“I assure you that the Department has carefully studied the law, given the evidence the utmost consideration, and thoroughly reviewed the prior investigation from an objective perspective,” he wrote.
How is this sitting with Republican congresspeople? Well, Rep. Kevin Brady, who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, called it “a terrible decision”. Brady elaborated, by saying:
Rep. Peter Roskam, who chairs the tax subcommittee called it “a miscarriage of justice”.
And I have a feeling there are other congresspeople – a great many of them – who not only agree with Mr. Brady and Mr. Roskam, but are not nearly as kind in their assessments.
Why was this decision made? What possible reason is there not to pursue lerner – or, for that matter, to retain the likeminded current IRS Commissioner, John Koskinen, in his current position?
I have no answer for you. It makes exactly no sense to me. Why is lois lerner not hauled before the relevant authorities and, at the very least, required to explain her actions?
I can only hope that the anger expressed by Brady, Roskam and others forces the Department of Justice to reconsider.

Sessions has been the biggest disappointment in the Trump administration. He strikes me as being both weak and cowardly.
