It is just before noon, and we are waiting for President Obama\’s statement regarding Iraq.
I am hoping for the sake of simple decency that as President for the past 5 1/2 years – the last three of them after he “negotiated” a complete troop withdrawal instead of leaving a residual force – he does not attempt to blame this on George Bush.
Not that, in any way, I would put it past him.
I\’ll add to this blog when he speaks.
Starts by talking about “my” national security council and “my” team. Egomaniac. It is not his, it is ours.
We\’re not going to help the Iraq government against ISIS, it is up to them to do it themselves – as ISIS takes over the country. Translation: we are going to stand by and watch Iraq become an al qaeda-run shari\’a law state.
“We\’re going to look at this situation carefully”. Translation: we\’re doing nothing, just as these al qaeda lunatics expected.
Obama admits this has spilled over from Syria – where he laid down a “red line” and then ignored the fact that it was completely breached. Why would any jihadist worry for one second about what Barack Obama says? He does nothing.
Now he is blaming the Maliki government for not effectively fighting ISIS. In that regard he is correct. But what about the fact that if Iraq is taken over by these people it will be catastrophic for the entire region and for us as well? Is he going to “punish” the Iraqi government by damaging every one else?
Not one word about the fact that, in the absence of our presence there, Iran is filling the void by promising to fight alongside Iraq against ISIS. If Maliki should somehow survive, who then would he owe his allegiance to? Does Barack Obama even begin to think about things like this?
End of statement.
Pathetic. Disgraceful. Obtuse.

UPDATE: I\’m watching CNN now, and Christine Amanpour is on. While I disagree with her on many things, what she is saying is right on target – that this is a “nightmare scenario”, that without boots on the ground we have no leverage of any kind, and that Maliki has, in fact asked for weapons and other help for years, it has not been forthcoming, and that this could cause Iraq to be carved up into areas controlled by Kurds, Shi\’ites and Sunnis – (this is me now) which hate each other\’s guts.
Now CNN\’s reporter in Iraq – Arwa Damon, I think – is saying that, while some people are saying this is a wakeup call for the Maliki government, others are saying it is a wakeup call for the United States.
Me? I think, whatever else this is, it apparently is a wakeup call for CNN – and, dare I hope, some of the other mainstream media venues which have been in the tank for Barack Obama so long they may have lost their journalistic souls.
