THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from Jeff Zeleny, formerly of the New York Times and now with CNN (how’s that for a Trump-hating daily double).

This, incredibly (at least to me), is how he characterizes last Thursday’s speech by President Trump, which he made to an enthusiastically supportive crowd waving both Polish and American flags:

I think we learned something about his world view. I would argue that this speech is one of the best speeches in terms of thematic and staying on message and offering a world view that he’s given yet. And the setting was interesting. It was in the Krasinski Square in Warsaw.

Thousands and thousands of people were waving American flags and Polish flags. But this is not a speech he could have given really any place else. This is a white America, America First kind of speech. He was offering a very stark view, actually, about the —  about migration, about immigration, about other things. It wasn’t a modern day speech, if you will. It was sort of a throwback speech. But he was offering a sense that “be afraid of what is happening in the world now.” This is a Steven Miller-written speech. He’s one of his top policy advisers here. And it was praised in a lot of corners. But he probably couldn’t have given that speech here in America.

Is this man an absolute idiot?  Or is he, like the network he toils for, so completely overwhelmed with Trump hatred that reality is not even an afterthought?

Here is a transcript of President Trump’s entire speech.  Please read it carefully, every word.  Then show me the part where this in any way, shape, manner or form is a specific appeal to White America.

You can’t, because there is nothing even remotely associated with such an appeal.

Now, about that “very stark” speech comment.

Yes there were stark components of the speech – sort of necessary if you’re talking about naziism and radical islamic terrorism (would Mr. Zeleny talk about them in different terms???)

But can anyone look me in the eye and tell me the speech as an entity was stark?  It was meant to be, and, based on crowd reaction, hugely successful in being, an uplifting, positive commentary on our relationship with a valued ally.

I award Jeff Zeleny Quote Of The Day “honors” for showing his Trump hatred so blatantly that even a blind man couldn’t miss it.

You work at CNN, Jeff?  This could very well net you a raise and a promotion.
