Today’s quote comes to us from CNN’s Jim Acosta, a reporter whose reputation in recent months has plummeted to near non-existence.
Last week, the New York Times and Associated Press, among other media venues, retracted claims that 17 intelligence agencies concurred there was Russian interference in the 2016 election – claims that have been hanging out there for months.
It turns out that the “concurrence” was restricted to 3-4 agencies run by Obama appointees.
But someone forget to mention this to Jim Acosta.
How do I know this? Because Mr. Acosta repeated it this morning on CNN’s New Day show, co-hosted by Chris Cuomo (whose plummeted reputation preceded Acosta’s).
His exact words:
“The other thing that was ‘fake news’ coming from President Trump is when he said, well, I keep hearing it’s 17 intelligence agencies that say Russia meddled in the election, I think it’s only three or four. Where does that number come from? Where does this ‘three or four’ number come from? My suspicion … is that if we go to the administration and ask them for this question, I’m not so sure we’re going to get an answer.”
Uh, Jim: if you want an answer, I suggest you read The New York Times and Associated Press – unless, of course, he also believes that The Times and the AP have magically become pro-Trump today.
I award Jim Acosta Quote Of The Day honors for giving us still another reason to wonder why CNN even bothers to call itself a news venue anymore.
