DRIVING TO DOBBS FERRY

Apropos of nothing political…

…we just got back from paying a condolence call in Dobbs Ferry, a little town in Westchester (NY of course).

Two observations:

1. Instead of driving into the city through the George Washington Bridge and fighting massive traffic every inch of the way thereafter, we shot up the Garden State Parkway and across to the Tappan Zee Bridge.  This is several miles longer distance-wise, but, by avoiding all that traffic, we saved a solid 30 – 45 minutes if not more….and the Tappan Zee  Bridge is only $5, compared to the GWB\’s $13.

2. Driving on Ashford Avenue through the tiny downtown part of Dobbs Ferry is maddening.  Maybe the sequence of lights there, which seems designed to make you miss them, one after the other, makes sense.  But not to me.

Ok, back to politics, where everything takes longer, costs more and is always maddening.
