FAST AND FURIOUS FALLOUT

For years I warned that part of the fallout from the Obama administration\’s incredibly ill-conceived Operation Fast and Furious would be that the Mexican drug cartels would be emboldened to move northward.

Here is a hint – no, make that a bold, loud statement – of what is to come, courtesy of the very brave Angela Kocherga at Houston\’s KHOU-TV :

ElPaso police are investigating two mysterious billboards that appearedjust off I-10, each with a mannequin hanging from a noose. .

“It\’snot an advertisement,” said Mike Mons, regional manager for LamarOutdoor advertising.

Thefirst vandalized billboard off I-10 had Plata o Plomo in large blackletters which translates into silver or lead. It is usually a warningtargeting police or government officials in Mexico. The warning: workwith a cartel and take a bribe or get a bullet.

Thehanging mannequin was dressed in a suit and tie.

“Thissymbol has historically been used by Mexican drug cartels to threatenor intimidate Mexican citizens, business owners and governmentofficials; however, we have never experienced this in El Paso,”said police in a statement released to media.

Threat: The translation of the painted vandalism means \'silver or lead\' which is meant to mean that police officers and business owners should either accept bribes or expect gunshots

The impunity necessary to actually put up billboards, like some kind of legitimate enterprise, with these messages (and the hanging effigies), is breathtaking…and scary as hell.

Now a few quick questions for you:

-Is this newsworthy?

-If so, did you see anything about it on the network news last night?

-Did you read about it in your newspaper this morning?

If the answer to all three questions is “no” (and I\’m betting it is), I have a few other questions:

-Who is mainstream media protecting by burying this story?

– What administration has done nothing about the flow of drugs from Mexico into the USA – other than lie about its deportation numbers?

-When is this administration going to start protecting citizens from Mexican drug cartels that do nothing but destroy lives for money…and kill anyone who gets in their way?

Three more years of this grotesquely incompetent, woefully inept administration?  I count the seconds.
