Barbara Boxer is retiring after three terms as a U.S. Senator from California.
(Not to worrry, Californians; her successor, Kamala Harris, is every bit as leftward as Ms. Boxer is.)
However, since she still is in the Senate for another month and a half, with little to do, Ms. Boxer decided to keep busy, so…
…she is introducing legislation to abolish the electoral college.
Point of order: The only way to amend the constitution, short of an overall constitutional convention, is through ratification by 3/4 of the states.
In other words, 38 of the 50 states would have to agree to forgo their individual electoral votes and put everything into a national hopper – which would virtually insure that presidential candidates concentrate on the most populous areas, covering maybe 8 – 12 states, and ignore everywhere else.
How likely do you think that is to happen?
Personally, I would say slightly less likely than Rosie O’Donnell begging Donald Trump to forgive her and make her White House chief of protocol.
This, folks, is what you do when you have nothing to do. Have fun, Ms. Boxer. And enjoy your retirement.

We had a choice between two candidates, both D’s.
kamala harris ran against loretta sanchez. When I voted I somehow missed they were both D’s. I saw sanchez’ name and automatically voted for the other candidate. Had I noticed they were both D’s I would have cast my vote for Eeyore, like I did in the race where only one person was running for re-election
[I voted against every incumbent].
