AN UNEXPECTED EXCHANGE

Here is an exchange – a very unexpected one if you ask me –  between Joe Scarborough, co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”, and Michael Moore, the hard leftist filmmaker who was one of the few who predicted a Trump victory.

On yesterday’s show, during a panel discussion about the election results, one of its participants – Eddie Glaude Jr., chair of the African American department at Princeton University – explained the Trump win by saying,

“…at the heart of this country is some deep racial animus that animates the very communities we’re trying to lift up”.

Here’s what happened afterwards:

Joe Scarborough: “I have to repeat it again because it’s maddening. People who live by data should die by data, and the data according to Nate Cohn of the New York Times says this, and let those who have ears to hear, hear: The very people who helped elect Barack Obama president of the United States twice just elected in Wisconsin, in Michigan, in Ohio and Pennsylvania, Donald J. Trump. It’s the data.”

Michael Moore:  “You have to accept that millions of people who voted for Barack Obama, some of them once, some of them twice, changed their minds this time. They’re not racist. They twice voted for a man whose middle name is Hussein. That’s the America you live in.”

I don’t always agree with Joe Scarborough.  And I usually agree far less with Michael Moore.  But, on this, they’re right on target.

Hillary Clinton ran a campaign based on a tired, stale, meaningless slogan, “Stronger Together” (as if she were a uniter), gender preference (“I’m With Her”) and celebrity entertainment (classic bread and circuses crap, as old as ancient Rome).

Donald Trump talked about fixing bad trade deals, keeping jobs domestic instead of watching them outsourced to other countries, and securing our borders.

Trump often talked straight out of his rear end, that is true.  But he was addressing real issues that resonated with real people – including people of all races and women as well as men.

That is one of the key reasons he will be our next President and Hillary Clinton is, at least for the moment, out of politics.

Another key reason relates to Ms. Clinton’s followers…and I’ll be talking about that in the next blog.
