OBAMACARE: THE TIMES\’ BRIEF (ONE PARAGRAPH) EPIPHANY

It\’s amazing. We finally get an honest, concise (one paragraph) commentary about ObamaCare from a New York Times editorial.  An epiphany.  Those guys finally get it.

And then, bada boom, it immediately reverts right back into the same Obamacentric BS the Times has been pumping out since day 1.

Here are the first three paragraphs of today\’s editorial – in rust, with my comments in blue:

TheObama administration announced a new policy on Wednesday that willallow many people to renew their existing insurance policies for twomore years even though the policies don\’t provide the comprehensivecoverage and consumer protections required by the Affordable CareAct. The move is designed to provide political cover for Democraticsenators facing tough re-election campaigns in Republican-leaningstates where the president is especially unpopular. Exactlyright. Too bad the editorial didn\’t end right here.

TheDemocrats have been hit with a barrage of attack ads fromconservative political-action groups highlighting the cases ofindividuals who complained that they faced higher premiums when theirold (less comprehensive) policies were canceled and they were forcedto buy new (and better) policies on the health care exchangesestablished by the reform law. Unbelievable. No sooner do you guys say something correct than you go right backinto protect-Obama-at-all-costs mode. Conservatives are not the onlypeople complaining about ObamaCare.  Read your own polling data.  Further, the “less comprehensive” policiesyou are referring to were policies proactively selected by the peopleholding those policies – who therefore wanted them, even if you have decided they aren\’t good enough.  And who arethe Times\’ editorialists to state, as if it were settled fact, that the new policies are better?  Is it better if I, a 68 year old male, pay additional premiums for maternity care? You are arrogant, condescending and ridiculous.  Now the last date for renewingthe old policies has been pushed past the 2014 midterm elections, reducing the likelihood of complaints on the eve of voting.

Thispolicy change had the immediate, unfortunate effect of givingRepublicans another convenient excuse to bash the Affordable Care Actas a failure that should be repealed. Unbelievableagain. Instead of attacking Obama & Co. for putting together ahealth care system so undesirable that virtually every part of it has now been pushed back beyondthe midterm elections in an effort to hide reality from voters, you attack the opposition party for daring to note that Obama & Co. is doing so. In truth, it poses no threat to health care reform and will have noimpact on the vast majority of Americans, who are covered by employerplans or public programs. The impact on people who buy their owninsurance on the individual market is hard to gauge but is likely tobe small and vary from state to state. Ahh,now we get it. It\’s OK to screw these people, because how many arethere anyway?  Fact is, there are millions. But who cares, it isBarack Obama/Democrat legislation so we must all bow down.

You can read the rest if you care to, by clicking here.  But I think you get the message.

Earth to the New York Times:  ObamaCare is a major-league stinker.  Most people think it should be redone or repealed…and that has been true in virtually every poll from every source for years.

There are reasons – real reasons – that people feel this way, even you can\’t see down far enough  from your ivory-tower editorial board room to find them.

But keep on plugging if you care to.  Keep on trying to convince the rest of us, along with yourselves, that dissatisfaction with ObamaCare is the result of nefarious Republicans politicking, not people just plain not liking what is being rammed down their throats by your lord and savior Barack Obama.

Enjoy your dream world.
