UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI: THE COST OF COWARDICE

So how has the University of Missouri fared, since essentially handing over the school to its academic brownshirts?

Here’s something of an answer, based on excerpts from Koran Addo’s article for the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch – in which he tries to downplay the effect of their takeover of the school, for virtually no good reason at all as the cause:

There’s no doubt the University of Missouri-Columbia has been wounded by a chain of recent events.

First, graduate assistants were upset with the university about losing benefits. Then, some legislators were angry because the school had ties to Planned Parenthood.

And of course, the school came under national scrutiny when many students protested after a series of racist incidents – the aftermath of which toppled top leadership.

What’s unclear is how all that discontent will affect enrollment and student recruitment.

Barbara Rupp, Mizzou’s director of admissions, sees cause for concern.

Rupp said the university had been predicting over the last few years a decline in students based on certain demographic trends, such as a shrinking pool of high school graduates.

That pattern may explain much, or even most, of Mizzou’s projected enrollment decline.

But Rupp also acknowledges that some of the projected declines are “undoubtedly part of the aftermath of last fall.”

In particular, recruiters working in the Chicago area are more frequently hearing the same concerns from prospective students, she said.

Those concerns are tied to the growing perception of Mizzou as a national symbol for strained race relations.

According to the university’s data, applications from out-of-state student have seen some of the sharpest declines. Among those students, deposits toward tuition are down 25 percent since last year.

Yep, Mr. Addo, the reason for this precipitous decline in enrollment (out-of-state students down a staggering 25%) is more related to graduate assistants losing benefits and support of Planned Parenthood than the fact that several incidents, none of which have a thing to do with how the school was administered, were successfully used as the basis for the looney left to take it over….whatever it hadn’t already taken over, that is.

And of course, the U of M expected a decline juuuuust like this one anyway.  Very credible, I’m sure.

This is pathetic.

I can’t prove it, but I would bet body parts that the main reason applications took a nosedive is because this school is now seen as less an academic opportuntity than it is a racial pressure-cooker where any incident, no matter how minor or unrelated to the school itself, could blow things sky-high.

Maybe, just maybe, mommy and daddy are a tad more interested in their college-age child getting an education that will benefit him/her in later life than a four year hard-left indoctrination program.

I hope so.
