BARACK OBAMA’S IDEA OF “BRINGING US TOGETHER”

Excerpted from Reena Flores’ article at CBS News:

President Obama offered up a rousing celebration of blackness Saturday, urging Howard University graduates to embrace their African-American heritage in one of the most forceful commencement speeches of his White House tenure.

“Be confident in your heritage. Be confident in your blackness,” Mr. Obama told a crowd of 15,000 gathered at Washington, D.C.’s Howard University, one of the nation’s leading historically black colleges.

Blackness, he said, had “no litmus test for authenticity,” pointing to his own conflicting critics that have questioned whether he was “too black” or “not black enough.”

“Create your own style, set your own standard of beauty, embrace your own sexuality,” he added. “Because you’re a black person — doing whatever it is that you’re doing — that makes it a black thing!”

This is the President who, his fawning sycophants assure us, has brought us together.

How do you figure those words – which specifically, intentionally, separate Black people from non-Blacks – bring us together?

I’ll wait for an answer, but it’s going to be a long wait – so I’ll ask a different question.

How do you figure those words – which specifically, intentionally, separate Black people from non-Blacks, tear us apart?

I figure the wait for that answer will be a lot shorter.

Oh, one other thing:  “rousing celebration”?   Of WHAT?  Self-segregation?

How much more racist could that be?

But if there’s way to twist it into some kind of positive for Barack Obama, count on mainstream media to find it.
