With a tip of my hat (if I ever decide to wear one) to my sister, who just emailed me about this, here is the transcript of an exchange during yesterday\’s “Morning Joe” show that I found more than a little surprising. Maybe you will too:
MIKABRZEZINSKI: If this were Dick Cheney, and he said I have my own emailserver, and I deleted the emails I wanted to delete, and you guys getthe ones that I give you. I\’m sorry, there would be… I don\’tunderstand why this is OK. I think the answer is because it isnot…
JOE SCARBOROUGH: James Carville says “Look atwhitewater. There\’s nothing to whitewater.”
How do weknow there\’s nothing in whitewater? Because the billing records atthe heart of whitewater disappeared for two years… Over those twoyears time, evidence can be destroyed… We don\’t know, because thisis what the Clintons do.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: I still think it isa fascinating question, how the Secretary of State literally goesrogue. With her own server in a suburb of New York — a leafy suburb.I mean, OK.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: I guarantee you, other people whoact like it\’s no big deal — if it were Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld,or some of these other people — America would be going crazy.
Mika Brzezinski is a Democrat. Her father was a high ranking official in the Carter administration. She will almost certainly support whichever Democrat is nominated to run for President in 2016 regardless of who it is.
But – credit where credit is due – she smells the stench emanating from Hillary Clinton\’s preposterous story every bit as much as I (and, I suspect most of the rest of us) do.
This is a scandal. A huge scandal. It is not going away. It is deepening and darkening.
Let me end with a point that I have not seen made elsewhere (maybe it has, but I haven\’t seen it).
Hillary Clinton has told us, definitively, that no emails concerning her performance as Secretary Of State were deleted/are being withheld. If she is forced to turn over that server, and they uncover emails about her goings-on as Secretary Of State – especially Benghazi (I\’m not talking about an email here and there, which could credibly be chalked up to an accidental deletion, I\’m talking about a bunch of them)…
…it\’s over.
If that happens, even Hubby Bubba\’s political talents will not be enough to save her campaign, or her overall political career.
