That “song”, sung to the tune of “If you\’re happy and you know it clap your hands”, was joyously chanted during a bus trip, by members and guests of the University of Oklahoma\’s chapter of sigma alpha epsilon.

I don\’t know the motives of whomever took the video on his/her smart phone and posted it to youtube.com.  I\’d like to think it was to shame the racist imbecile leading the chant and his pals who were chanting along – but it also could have been because he/she agreed with the sentiment and was entertained by it.  Either way, it shows a level of conscience-free depravity that would be hard to top (or, maybe, bottom).

And before anyone tries to tell me this was just youthful exuberance, or drunkenness, or silly stuff the chanters didn\’t mean — according to a report I heard earlier, the University of Oklahoma chapter of sae has had exactly two Black pledges in its history – the last one 14 years ago – neither of whom were accepted.  (NOTE: That pledge says he became an sae member at that time.  Sorry about that).

Can anyone seriously believe the members of sae – including its national organization, which is piously disclaiming this chapter, thus covering its collective asses – were unaware that no Blacks were allowed? 

To the University\’s credit (what little it deserves – the university had to have known about this too), it has immediately removed the sae chapter from campus, taken the letters down from its frat house, and told the members to clear out.  What disciplinary actions might be taken for individuals – certainly the mindless idiot leading the chant, whose face is clearly visible in the video – have yet to be disclosed. 

Real racism.  It comes in all forms from all sources.  No group is immune to it or from it.  Certainly not a bunch of stupid college wiseasses who think using racist language and references to lynching is a laugh riot.
