I could do a long blog about the idiocy of New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof\’s latest column about Gaza, the essence of which is that, yeah, the ruling party, hamas, is a bunch of bad people who do terrible things, but Israel is to blame because of the restrictions it puts on Gaza. (No mention, of course, of the hamas charter, which specifically calls for the annihilation of Israel and death to all Jews everywhere,  Hey, why wouldn\’t you give a population committed to this objective full freedom of access to Israel?  What could possibly go wrong?).

If you care to, use the link I\’ve provided above and read this entire bucket of slop.  But for the purposes of brevity, and my blood pressure, I\’ll just put up one extraordinary little passage, which, in the mind of Nicholas Kristof, explains why Israel must make still more concessions to Gazans (unilaterally handing over 100% of the land area of Gaza wasn\’t enough, you see):

True,Hamas\’s misrule is central to the problem, but we don\’t haveinfluence over Hamas; we do have influence over Israel.

What that says is that hamas\’s activities are irrelevant.   Because nothing we do is going to change its goals (again:  the annihilation of Israel and death of all Jews), the only party which we should be making demands of is Israel, which hamas gets a free pass on intending to wants to annihilate.

That, folks, is the brilliant position of Nicholas Kristof.  If hamas is completely intransigent, Israel therefore has to capitulate.

Any doubt about why I call this idiotic?
