With a special shout-out to my Lost Tribe friends….

….here is the statement house minority leader Nancy Pelosi just issued regarding Prime Minister Netanyahu\’s speech – in rust, with my comments in blue.

“Theunbreakable bonds between the United States and Israel are rooted inour shared values, our common ideals and mutual interests.  Oursis a deep and abiding friendship that will always reach beyond party.Americans stand shoulder to shoulder with the Israeli people.  Thestate of Israel stands as the greatest political achievement of the20th century, and the United States will always have an unshakablecommitment to Israel\’s security. Then, ofcourse, you have the greatest of respect for Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu\’s speech to the congress, in which he reiteratesthat bond, and explains why he feels a bad deal with Iran is sodangerous to Israel, the overall Middle East (Israel is by no meansthe only country fearful of its consequences) and the rest of theworld – very much including the USA. Right?

“Thatis why, as one who values the U.S. – Israel relationship, and lovesIsrael, I was near tears throughout the Prime Minister\’s speech –saddenedby the insult to the intelligence of the United Statesas part of the P5 +1 nations, and saddenedby the condescension toward our knowledge of the threat posed by Iranand our broader commitment to preventing nuclear proliferation. Huh??????? You were near tears that Mr. Netanyahu articulated thethreat you agree exists, and explained his position on what a deal which allowed Iranto go nuclear would mean to his country and all the others? What areyou talking about?

“Today,Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated something we all agree upon: anuclear armed Iran is unacceptable to both our countries.  Wehave all said that a bad deal is worse than no deal, and stopping thespread of nuclear weapons is the bedrock of our foreign policy andnational security.  As President Obama has said consistently,all options are on the table for preventing a nuclear-armed Iran.” Inother words, you are saying that, in terms of our goals, Mr.Netanyahu is on the same page with Mr. Obama. Sowhat the eff was your problem with the fact that he said it in frontof congress?

Based on that statement, I have one question for Ms. Pelosi – the same one Judge Chamberlain (Fred Gwynne) asked Vincent Gambini (Joe Pesci)  in “My Cousin Vinny”

Are you on drugs?
