“18 years have passed since airplanes took aim and brought down the World Trade Center,”

What do you think of this blog’s title – which does not blame any (alleged) human beings for 9/11 and cites no religious fanaticism, but only suggests that airplanes must somehow have conspired with each other to decimate the World Trade Center, killing almost 3,000 innocent people?

Do you find it moronic?  Hugely insulting to your intelligence?  Despicable, because it gives a free pass to both the people who did this and the belief system that motivated it?

I hope so.

See, those words did not come from me.  They are straight from the description tweeted yesterday, the 18th anniversary of 9/11,  by the new york times.

The times’ tweet, in its entirety, read as follows:

“18 years have passed since airplanes took aim and brought down the World Trade Center. Today families will once again gather and grieve at the site where more than 2000 people died.”

In other words, this was the times’ version of ilhan omar’s equally sickening description of 9/11:  “Some people did something”.

And, as an extra-added attraction, the times also dropped the actual death total by almost 1,000.  “More than 2,000” suggests it was somewhere slightly above that number.  But, in the real world, almost 3,000 innocent people died on 9/11 – with the true total far exceeding 3,000 by injuries and medical conditions suffered by victims who didn’t die immediately, the thousands who participated in searching for victims, cleanup, and people who breathed in the toxic air.

Maybe, given the times’ current status as a left wing propaganda tool, its staff just assumed the others were political conservatives, so they didn’t deserve to be mentioned.

Not at all surprisingly, the times was massively condemned for this sick BS whitewash, to the point that it deleted the tweet.  Then, suddenly, there was a new version, which read:

“We’ve deleted an earlier tweet to this story and have edited for clarity.”

“18 years after nearly 3,000 people were lost, families of those killed in the terror attacks will gather at the 9/11 memorial. There will be a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., then the names of the dead — one by one — will be recited.”

Edited for clarity?  CLARITY?

Yeah, that’s all it was.  Clarity.

I strongly urge that we never forget what the times put it up there for all to see, until it was shamed into this too-little-too-late revision…

…and going forward, we should always remember what the new york times has degenerated into before looking to it for neutral news coverage.
