I call this willful blindness. What do you call it?
Excerpted from an article at foxnews.com:
The FBI is investigating a machete attack Thursday nightthat turned a popular, Israeli-owned restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, into abloodbath, but local police say there is no indication so far of a terrormotive.
Of the four patrons wounded in theattack at the Nazareth Restaurant and Deli, one was in critical conditionbefore being upgraded to “stable.” The attacker was identified asMohammad Barry, a law enforcement source told Fox News.
“There\’s nothing to lead us to believe this isanything more than a random attack,” Columbus police spokesman Sgt. RichWeiner told theThe Columbus Dispatch.
Weiner added that the FBI is also investigating theattack but declined say why.
Hmmmmm, let\’s see. An Israeli-owned restaurant is attacked by a machete-wielding man named Mohammad. The FBI is investigating – something it would not do for an in-state crime unless it had a federal component to it…like, for example, being a hate crime. But “there\’s nothing to lead us to believe this is anything more than a random attack”.
Do I know it was more than a random attack? I do not. Is there a reason to believe it could be something more than just a random attack? Let\’s not insult each other\’s intelligence.
To me, this is not just willful blindness, it is the definition of the term. But not to the Columbus police force…who trotted out an officer with a Jewish-sounding name to regurgitate the party line.
I\’d say unbelievable. But, these days, very little qualifies.
UPDATE: FYI: The restaurant\’s owner, Hansy Baransi, is a Christian. A proud Israeli Christian (he flies the Israeli flag outside the restaurant).
