…you might want to answer by providing these data, which I just compiled.
President Trump was in office for 47 full months (only partly in January 2017 and 2021). In those months inflation averaged 1.9%.
But, to be fair, let’s eliminate the 6 months in 2019 when the pandemic hit and inflation (along with everything else) plummeted. In the remaining 41 months, Trump’s presidency averaged 2.1%.
And then there is Joe Biden.
In the 37 months Joe Biden has been President, inflation has averaged 5.6% – which, I would hope we agree, is higher than 2.1%.
But, the person telling you Biden lowered inflation might say, look at how far it has dropped from the high of June 2022, when it hit 9.1%. Look at where it is now… then…
…to which you might answer that a) the 9.1% was where Biden brought it, not Trump, so it was entirely on his watch…and the current rate of inflation, 3.2%, is still not only about 50% higher than the average for Trump’s four years, but it is higher than the single highest month of Trump’s entire four years (2.9% in June and July of 2018).
And if that person challenges these numbers? Refer her/him to these data, straight from the Bureau Of Labor Statistics. Tell that person to do the math see that it is 100% correct.
There is going to be a lot of lying by Democrats about Joe Biden’s “accomplishments” during his tenure as President, with “I lowered inflation” – already out there – being among the most egregious.
You have the data. Don’t let them get away with it.
