During the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump was dogged for months about the fact that White supremacist and avid anti-Semite david duke supported him over Hillary Clinton.
Trump never sought out this endorsement. He rejected it and disavowed david duke. But no matter how many times he made this clear, the questions about his “relationship” with duke continued to be raised.
Fast-forward to March, 2018.
It is now a week since the Republican Jewish Coalition demanded the resignation of 7 Democrat house members, based on their personal relationships with the career racist, Black supremacist and anti-Semite, louis farrakhan…
…and six days after some, by no means all, of mainstream media bemusedly reported this, then dropped it like a hot potato – while the rest never reported it at all.
Several of the 7 had just one or two personal meetings with farrakhan. That would have been bad enough – what would media have said if Trump had just one or two personal meetings with david duke?
But several of them had a lot more than that. Rep. keith ellison in particular, who is not just a member of the house but also deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) – had a years’ long love-fest with farrakhan. Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL) called him “an outstanding human being”.
Suppose we found out that Donald Trump had a years-long close relationship with david duke. Suppose he called him “an outstanding human being”. Would media either give that news the one-day-and-out treatment or not report it at all?
The double standard is right there in front of us. And what does it say?
It says that racism and anti-Semitism is acceptable….as long as it’s the media-approved racism and anti-Semitism from the media-approved purveyors.
And then they wonder why fewer and fewer people trust them…..
