Apropos of nothing political…
This has to be the most memorable first-at-bat for a new major league player in history.
Tod Frazier was traded to the Yankees last week, while they were on the road. Yesterday was his first home game as a Yankee.
Since Frazier was born and raised in Toms River, New Jersey, it was a major homecoming for him. What a chance to shine in front of his friends and neighbors, let alone the Yankee Stadium crowd.
His first at bat, he found himself with bases loaded and no one out.
So what did he do? He hit into…
…a triple play.
No joke, he really did.
I’m sure Mr. Frazier will have better days for the Yankees, both at home and on the road.
But I doubt he’ll ever forget this one.
OK, now back to politics, where most players hit for low averages, and the umpires always seem to be rooting for one team over the other.
