WAS THIS WOMAN REALLY AN EXECUTIVE EDITOR AT THE NEW YORK TIMES?

Yes she was.  Which probably explains a lot about what the New York Times has devolved into.

The following quote is not made up.  It is real.  And its source is Jill Abramson – writer, author and former Executive Editor of the New York Times.

Read it and shake your head in disbelief:

“It’s easy to look at what’s happening in Washington DC and despair.  That’s why I carry a little plastic Obama doll in my purse. I pull him out every now and then to remind myself that the United States had a progressive, African American president until very recently. Some people find this strange, but you have to take comfort where you can find it in Donald Trump’s America.”

Holy excrement.

Does she also carry pickup-sticks with images of Bill Clinton’s standout feature on them?  Or maybe a set of jacks with a ball that has the face of Ted Kennedy on it?

If I didn’t know for a fact that this stuff was real I would not believe it.  But it is and I therefore do – which makes me wonder that much less about why The Times has become such a pale shadow of its former self.
