- From CBS News-NY:An NFL player is apologizing for posting a graphic image on Instagram showing a man dressed in all black slitting the throat of a police officer.
Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell, 23, deleted the image he posted on Instagram showing blood gushing out of the officer’s neck. The image conjures up videos posted by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria showing the terrorist known as “Jihadi John” beheading American and British victims.
- From The Washington Times:
Kalyn Chapman James, who was crowned Miss Alabama before placing as a top-10 semi-finalist in the 1994 Miss America pageant, posted a live video on Facebook that’s been viewed more than 7,400 times.
“I don’t want to feel this way,” Ms. James said into the camera. “I’m dealing with a bit of guilt because I don’t feel sad for the officers that lost their lives, and I know that that’s not really my heart. I value human life, and I want to feel sad for them, but I can’t help but [feel] like the shooter was a martyr. And I know it’s not the right way to feel, because nobody deserves to lose their lives and I know that those police officers had families and people who loved them and that they didn’t deserve to die.”
“But I’m so torn up in my heart about seeing these men, these black men, being gunned down in our community that I can’t help,” she continued, sobbing. “I wasn’t surprised by what the shooter did to those cops, and I think a lot of us feel the same way.”
I’m assuming most readers know why I can do without these two “celebrities” — who have no problem with the murder of cops; not cops who they know to have actually done anything racist, just any cops at all (exactly the way they used to lynch Black men in the early 20th century…which, it’s a pretty good guess, Crowell and James would not have been OK with).
However, in the unlikely event that there are readers who don’t understand, I’ll just let it go, on the grounds that I doubt I could explain it to them no matter how hard I tried.
