THE TRUMP VERDICT: WHOSE “VICTORY”?

Sometimes I think it’s a sin, when I feel like I’m winnin’ when I’m losin’ again

The above lyrics are from Gordon Lightfoot’s classic song, “Sundown”.  And, in my opinion, they describe the elation of Trump haters at the verdict of guilty on all counts in New York City’s sham trial – run by a judge who donated to Joe Biden and who, based on contemporaneous accounts tilted the trial heavily in favor of the prosecution, with a jury drawn from a venue that voted almost 9 to 1 for Biden in 2020.

Didn’t these people notice that, as the trial went on, Trump’s poll numbers either stayed static or rose?

Are they aware that, after the verdict, so many people tried to donate to the Trump campaign that its website crashed?

Can they possibly be so tone deaf that they don’t realize a great many people feel this didn’t make Trump a criminal, it made him a martyr?

On paper, it may look like a victory for Joe Biden and alvin bragg, the soros-backed DA in New York.  But I have a feeling that it is a classic “be careful what you wish for, you just might get it” situation instead.

The staying power of Democrats’  legal “victory” – which just might be more of a “victory” for Trump – is yet to be tested.

Time will tell.
