lavar ball is the father of Liangelo Ball, the UCLA basketball player who, with two of his teammates, was caught shoplifting in China, and is home now only because President Trump interceded.
The players – at least on camera – were apologetic about what they did and thankful for the president for getting them off the hook. But not levar ball.
According to Ari Gilberg’s article for the New York Daily News, when asked about Trump’s involvement, he was intelligent and gracious enough to say “Who? What was he over there for? Don’t tell me nothing. Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out.”
A giant among us, I’m sure.
Now, fast-forward to last night, when ball was on “CNN Tonight” and host Chris Cuomo – certainly no fan of Donald Trump’s – chided him for not being thankful.
Here, again from Ari Gilberg’s article, is what levar ball answered:
“Did you thank the doctor for bringing you into this world? Well you better go back and find him, ‘cause you lucky”
“I would’ve said ‘Thank you’ if he would’ve put him on his plane and took him home”
In other words, no thanks necessary – only if the President of the United States had not just gotten his kid out of trouble but given him a hero’s return on Air Force One.
If there is a hall of fame for thanklessness and hopeless ignorance and stupidity, lavar ball should immediately be nominated for entry. He’ll be elected in no time flat.
