Today’s quote comes to us from HBO’s President of Programming, Casey Bloys.

HBO is going to launch a new series, called “Confederate” – which takes place in a fictional era when the South has successfully seceded from the USA and slavery is a legal, institutionalized fact of life.

Interesting premise, right?  Well, I would have agreed…until I read what Mr. Bloys’ explanation of what he expects the series to deal with.

Here it is:

“Everyone understands there is a high degree of getting this right. … If you can get it right, there is real opportunity to advance the racial discussion in America.  If you can draw a line between what we’re seeing in the country today with voter suppression, mass incarceration, lack of access to public education and healthcare and draw the line to our past and shared history, that’s an important line to draw and a conversation worth having.”

Translation:  this is another HBO series featuring pretty much every left-wing talking point out there, and treating each of them as if they were factual.

I award Casey Bloys – and HBO – Quote Of The Day “honors” for warning us that this is yet another indoctrination attempt by the Hollywood left (and God help just about anyone there who isn’t part of it), which will be foisted on public as generic entertainment.

These people would choke on a real discussion of race in America – one in which, for example, calling Voter ID racial suppression is defined – accurately, for a change – as telling Black people they are inferior beings who can’t obtain the same ID that White people have no problem with.

If Bloys & Co. put something like that in “Confederate” I’ll be happy to watch.  I’m not holding my breath waiting for it to happen.
