Today’s quote – and it is stunning – comes to us from Mexican President Claudia Scheinbaum.
Here, so help me, is her position on fighting a “narco” war against the drug cartels that, it seems apparent, are more in control of the country than she is:
“”Returning to the war against the narco (i.e narcotics cartels) is not an option. It is not an option.
“First, because it is outside the framework of the law.
“All those these of the right wing that fill their mouths (with) words (like) ‘rule of law’, and defend the narco. The war against the narco is outside the law because as I said or have said on several occasions, it is permission to kill without any trial. And that, in Mexico, nobody, or very few are in agreement.
“It is outside the framework of the law. And, secondly, it does not serve any purpose other than to increase homicides in Mexico. And the level of violence.
“So these are called authoritarian because they are authoritarian. (It) is going toward fascism.”
Did President Scheinbaum actually say this insane, idiotic word salad? Could she have said it?

As nearly as I can determine, Scheinbaum is saying that fighting the cartels that inflict violence and death inside and outside of Mexico every day is not protecting the innocent people they destroy; it is fascism. Therefore, simple fairness dictates that they be left alone to ply their trade.
I award Claudia Scheinbaum Quote Of The Day honors for proving to me that whatever I used to think the nth degree of moronic stupidity was, she has far exceeded it. Either that, or she is so afraid of being nailed by the cartels that she is willing to be their bag lady.
Regardless of which it is, Mexico under this moron is no friend of the United States. Period.
And, since the product of her stated policy is that drugs will continue to come across the border and untold numbers of U.S. citizens will die as a result, we should act accordingly – whatever that entails.
We have to. Because, since Scheinbaum won’t even protect her own people, she’s sure as eff is not going to protect ours.
