THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Todays’ quote comes to us from Washington D.C. Mayor Murel Bowser.  Not surprisingly, it involves the National Guard troops which President Trump sent in to helf alleviate the city’s crime problem.

Ms. Bowser, of course, is a Democrat:  how could the Mayor of a city that votes over 90% Democrat be anything else.  That is why her evaluation of the effect these troops have had is so interesting, so surprising.

Says Mayor Bowser:

“The federal surge has had a significant [decrease] on crime in Washington, DC, and we greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what [DC’s Metropolitan Police Department] has been able to do in this city,”

Does she have a point?

Well, let’s look at the data, via data supplied in Victor Nava’s article for the New York Post:

Crime in Washington, DC, has dropped across all categories since President Trump ordered federal law enforcement into the streets of the nation’s capital earlier this month — with carjackings plummeting an astonishing 87% from the same period last year, Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser revealed Wednesday.

All violent crime has nearly been cut in half, falling 45%, according to Bowser.

Wednesday’s data also showed homicides fell 38% from 2024, sex abuse was down 44% and robberies dropped 62% — from 119 cases to 45.

Property crime also declined by 12% during the Trump crackdown, while burglaries (47%) and motor vehicle thefts (35%) also declined signficantly.

I award Mayor Muriel Bowser Quote Of The Day honors for having the honesty and integrity to acknowledge how beneficial the inclusion of National Guard troops has been for her city.

Those data are nothing short of fabulous for the citizens of Washington D.C.  I hope they join Mayor Bowser in appreciating what has happened, and recognizing how intrinsic more visible/effective law enforcement is to why it has happened.

I also hope the citizens of other cities with high crime rates take notice…and, when elections come around, vote accordingly.
