Today’s quote comes to us from a rich source for this series, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX).
As reported in Roger Anderson’s article for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, a law was passed in 2021 that required ballots, including mail-in ballots, to provide some form of identification; in other words, voters would be expected to show proof they are who they say they are.
You’d think that would be pretty basic. But Democrats challenged this requirement (no surprise there – Democrats tend to fight just about all voter ID requirements). But, this past week, the 5th Circuit Court has ruled in favor of Texas’ ID law.
So what is Rep. Crockett’s reaction?
“Unfortunately, we’ve seen our numbers fall now that they’ve had these voter restrictions in place.”
Wow.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett wins Quote Of The Day honors for informing us that the ID requirement for mail-in balloting has caused a loss of votes for her party – thus inherently admitting that not having to show ID benefits Democrats, not Republicans – and that she considers the resulting more accurate vote count as an unfortunate consequence.
You don’t get that kind of admission very often, do you?
My congratulations to the voters in Texas’ 30th congressional district for electing this deepthinker to represent them. What substance her thinking is deep into, you can probably guess.
