THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

As we have seen for the past two or so years, Joe Biden’s puppeteers have no problem at all trotting him out to say what they tell him to say.  And this is supplemented by the fact that Joe Biden, even when he had an acceptable level of cognition, would say just about anything, truthful or otherwise, that might get him a few more votes.

So why should we be surprised when stands up at the White House Competition Counsel yesterday and says:

“We’ve made historic progress.  We’ve made historic progress with the price of gas down $1.30 since the beginning of the summer.  In some few states, it’s below three bucks.  It’s, you know, in the low threes in most places, although there are some fires and some other problems that had to do with refining capacity in — in the far west, in the middle west.  But we’re going to deal with that as well.

“And last month, the price of oil worldwide is down, la- –just last month; in fact, lower than any price since Putin invaded Ukraine.  And — and we’re working off of that, as opposed to anything else.”

Very, very impressive, Mr. President.

Except…

-Yes, the price of gas is down $1.30 from the all-time high of slightly over $5 a gallon.  But you left out the fact that, the week you were elected, the average national gas cost was $2.11 a gallon and the day you were inaugurated it was $2.39 a gallon.  So you are bragging about a “reduction” from the all-time high, to a price way, way above where it was when you took office.  Call me a pessimist, but somehow I don’t think of that as a reduction;

-There is not one state in the country where gas is below $3 a gallon.  That is an outright lie;

-The average price for gas right now is $3.72 a gallon, so saying it is in the low threes (which, again, is far higher than when you took office) is another outright lie;

-The average gas price the week before putin invaded The Ukraine was $3.48 a gallon.  It is now $3.72 a gallon.  So the claim that it is lower than when putin invaded The Ukraine is another outright lie.

-And this is before we get to the fact that one of the key reasons gas prices have dropped is that you are selling off our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to make things look artificially better during the midterm election campaign.  You are not only endangering our country by doing so, you will have to buy back that oil after the election….and almost certainly do so at prices higher than when it was purchased in the first place.  So prices will shoot back up.

I award Joe Biden Quote Of The Day “honors” for showing us that nothing has changed; that he is cognitively impaired, that he will recite what he is told and that, to the extent he even knows what he is saying, he has no problem lying to our faces.
