Today\’s Quote of The Day comes to us from Audie Cornish, co-host of National Public Radio\’s (NPR\’s) “All Things Considered” show.
As you are probably aware, information was leaked last week about the grand jury investigation of Michael Brown\’s shooting and killing by Ferguson, Missouri police officer Darren Wilson. This included the autopsy finding that gunpowder particulates were found on Brown\’s hand, and blood was found on the gun and in Wilson\’s police car.
This, obviously, supports Wilson\’s claim that he fired his gun while Brown was reaching into the police car, trying to take it from him.
But not to Audie Cornish.
Here is how she started the show:
“Protestsin Ferguson, Missouri heated up again this week. That\’s after a St.Louis paper reported the leaked findings of a second autopsy reporton Michael Brown. It found that the 18-year-old black man was shot atclose range by a white police officer.”
That\’s it. That\’s all. Not a word by her, or co-host Robert Siegel, about what this information showed about the incident, and how it debunked witnesses who claimed that Brown was shot either while running away or trying to surrender from a distance.
How badly do these people want Darren Wilson to be nailed for the shooting, even if evidence showed that he was telling the truth all along? This should tell you.
I award Audie Cornish Quote Of The Day Honors – not just for working this hard at keeping the whole story from her listeners, but for demonstrating, again, that NPR is the MSNBC of radio – about as neutral as the public sector unions in Wisconsin.
