THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL).  It concerns an issue that I have blogged about for years, which is very important to me…and, I hope to you as well:  the damage done to Black citizens by President Obama\’s policies toward illegal aliens and amnesty legislation proposed by he and his fellow Democrats.

Here is what Senator Sessions had to say:

“Anation owes its first obligation to its own citizen. But our currentimmigration policy advantages the citizens of other countries overour own. Undeniably, one of the groups most hurt economically byunjust immigration policies are African-Americancitizens.

…they\’ve already broken the law and are beinggiven amnesty. In terms of immigration policy, it would severelyaffect the rights of Blacks generally and all low-income Americans. What it is going to do is displace those individuals from the labormarket.

“…Thisnation has a deep responsibility to its own citizens, who are barelyscraping by in this stagnant economy. We need to help our ownjobseekers, our own communities, our own schools and neighborhoods.Yet the immigration bill endorsed by Senate and House Democrats woulddeliver a hammer blow to our struggling cities and workers.”

Exactly, 100% correct.

Handing amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, allows them to compete with legal citizens for jobs.  And since they are disproportionately at the lower end of the scale, their entry into the job market will disproportionately affect legal citizens with lower levels of education and salable work skills, who therefore are competing for similar jobs.  Which means it will disproportionately affect Black citizens.

Illustratively, according to 2011-12 data, 86% of White students graduate high school nationwide, compared to 69% of Black students.  And, as just about everyone other than members of the teachers\’ unions acknowledges, primarily Black school systems often do not turn out graduates as academically ready for the real world as they should.

I do not mean this as an insult to Black people.  I mean this as an honest explanation of why Black job-seekers would be most affected by a major influx of illegals – often with lower levels of education (not to mention a language barrier) who will be looking for the same kinds of jobs.

I award Jeff Sessions Quote Of The Day honors for speaking the truth, however unpleasant it is, about this subject.  It\’s one helluva lot more than President Obama, and most of his fellow Democrats ever will.
