The Iowa caucuses are now history. Sort of,
On the Republican side, the good news is that Donald Trump got taken down a peg or two, by losing to Ted Cruz. The bad news is that he lost to Ted Cruz.
I would love to tell you this loss would humble Mr. Trump a bit, but that seems impossible.
And it isn\’t by any means sweetness and light for Cruz either, with Ben Carson accusing his campaign of bumping up its vote total by putting out material suggesting that Carson had dropped from the race. Ahhhhhhh, politics.
Then we have Marco Rubio, who finished strong…at about the same level as Trump (23% to Trump\’s 24%) and just a few points behind Cruz.
On the Democrat side, Hillary Clinton “won” by a hair\’s breadth over Bernie Sanders…
except…
The only reason she “won” is that, in six precincts, it came down to a coin-toss (I\’m not making this up: click here and see for yourself). Somehow, Ms. Clinton won all six of them (hmmmm)…which, it would seem apparent, is her “margin of victory”.
Ms. Clinton was, at one point, over 40% ahead of Mr, Sanders in the polls, and that is where it should have stayed. The fact that they ended up in a virtual tie is borderline disastrous. And this is before Sanders whomps her (even schlongs her…oops, did I say something wrong?) in New Hampshire next week, which is a near-guaranteed to happen.
The bottom line?
Trump suddenly doesn\’t look so invincible after all,
Cruz won…but may have cheated to do so,
Rubio, with his late rush, may be starting to make his move,
Bernie Sanders leaves Iowa strong with the potential to leave New Hampshire even stronger.
And Hillary Clinton may be living 2008 all over again.
Next…..
