Why are Democrats in the awful position they find themselves in, just two weeks from the midterm elections?
Here is a lot of the answer, via an excellent summary from Josh Kraushaar\’s article at nationaljournal.com:
Alltold, the cascading number of controversies and scandals in thepresident\’s second term has fed into the perception that thisadministration is out of its depth in doing its primary job: managinggovernment. And that\’s not good for Democrats, both the party inpower and the party associated with an activist federal government. The dominant theme in the campaign\’s final month is Democratic Senatecandidates struggling to distance themselves from the president, fromArkansas Sen. Mark Pryor\’s awkward assessment of the president\’shandling of the Ebola crisis to Kentucky Senate candidate AlisonLundergan Grimes\’s refusal to discuss whom she voted for in the 2012election.
How do you distance yourself from a President who sandbags your effort by telling voters, in so many words, that the election is about his policies?
I don\’t have an answer either.
And that is why Mr. Kraushaar is exactly correct.
