Let\’s start with an easy one: Do you think this information – excerpted from Stephanie Armour\’s article at the Wall Street Journal – is newsworthy?
Hundredsof thousands of Americans face a Tuesday deadline to verify theirincome and are at risk of losing or having to pay back their federalhealth-insurance subsidies under the Affordable Care Act.
Theneed for people to pay back the government could become a headacheduring next year\’s tax season, when Americans are expected to payback any subsidies they weren\’t eligible for.
TheObama administration has told more than 300,000 individuals whoobtained coverage through the federal HealthCare.gov site that theymay lose some or all of the subsidies if they don\’t provideadditional income information that jibes with Internal RevenueService data. That information includes tax returns, wages and taxstatements, pay stubs and letters from employers.
Hundredsof thousands of people who obtained health coverage through stateexchanges also have documentation issues and could potentially begetting subsidies they aren\’t eligible for.
A highly controversial program, that polls, for years, have shown the public opposes – one which the administration has continuously lied to us about (not that lying to us is anything special to this administration) – may be about to lose hundreds of thousands of subscribers because they given inaccurate (dishonest?) income information.
Think it\’s worth a mention over at CBS? NBC? ABC?
Well, according to Curtis Houck\’s article at newsbusters.org (part of the Media Research Center), not one of them reported it yesterday. Not on their morning shows and not on their nighttime national news shows.
Why?
Never mind that last question. We both know the answer.
