In a previous blog, I pointed out that the special House of Representatives election (being held today) for North Carolina’s 9th district was not really a referendum on President Trump, since the Democrat opponent, Dan McCready, has presented himself as about as close to being a Republican as he could, without losing Democrat votes.
But the fact that President Trump held a major rally in that district yesterday, imploring voters to come out for Republican Dan Bishop, changes things. That does make it a referendum on Trump.
And what do we know about this district? Well, according to Harry Enton’s article at cnn.com, Trump won it by 12% in 2016. But, on the other hand, Democrats have an 8% advantage in voter registration.
So where does that leave us? Just where we were in the first place; waiting for results.
I, of course, will be blogging about those results tomorrow.
