The Freddy Gray trials:
Two down. One mistrial months ago…
…and, today, an acquittal on all charges for Officer Edward Nero; the verdict made by Judge Barry Williams (who, I will point out is Black: not that I am surprised that a Black judge would render this verdict but because most media are going to make a big deal over it).
Will there be riots in the streets of Baltimore?
I do not know… and will not be surprised either way.
Is this a harbinger of verdicts to come? No way to tell, but since the incompetent, politically compromised prosecutor, Marylin Mosby overcharged the six officers so egregiously, it would not surprise me a bit.
More to come. Stay tuned.
One question, though: if all the officers are acquitted, does Freddy Gray’s family have to give back the $6.4 million settlement Baltimore officials, with the OK of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, handed them…before even one verdict indicated that the police officers involved were culpable in any way?
Don’t count on it.
