I am, literally, watching history revised as it happens.
Reality: After Saturday’s Charlottesville riot – a riot orchestrated by its Mayor, michael signer, and possibly its police chief, Al Thomas (more on this in my next blog), President Trump condemned all rioters on both sides.
He did NOT support or condone the White supremacists and nazi wannabes who marched. That is a lie.
Media, Democrats, and, more generally, the left, then attacked him for not specifying only the White supremacists and nazi wannabes.
So Trump went on TV and specifically condemned them. He did NOT exonerate the antifa and blm thugs, who came armed, ready for battle, and may well have started the physical violence.
Then, at yesterday’s raucous news conference, President Trump again asserted both his condemnation of the White nationalists and nazis (as he called them). And he again asserted that the left was also culpable for the violent riot which ensued.
But much of mainstream media are now telling us that, at that news conference, he sympathized with the White supremacists and nazi wannabes. They have scared at least some Republicans, and members of his business council, into ducking for cover. Mission accomplished.
It is a complete, total utter lie. He did no such thing.
The one thing Trump did do wrong – and should be retracting his statement and apologizing for – is his claim that there were “many fine people on both sides”. There were no “fine people” on the White supremacist/neo-nazi side. Even if he were right about some people “innocently” protesting removal of Robert E. Lee’s statue (try and find any), no “very fine” person would march alongside those haters because they agreed on one specific issue. Would Italian resistance fighters have marched with the fasicsts during WWII because they liked mussolini getting the trains to be on time? To march alongside of them was to be with them.
Let me end by challenging anyone reading this blog to post any comment that Donald Trump made during any of his public statements over the past few days that, in any way, showed sympathy to or support of the White Supremacists and/or nazi wannabes.
If you can show them to me I will post them and apologize. If you can’t, then be honest enough to admit they aren’t there, and you are being lied to.
Fair enough?
