It is supposed to be a heart-warming story.
Over 36 years after 53 American hostages were taken hostage by the lunatics running Iran – the same lunatics who are running Iran now – “restitution” is being made. The hostages, or estates of hostages who have since died, will be receiving up to $4.4 million dollars each.
That\’s nice. $200 or so million dollars being paid out. Now: who is paying it?
Well, it\’s part of the latest spending bill just passed by congress.
Not Iran\’s congress. OUR congress.
Forgetting for a moment that part of the hostage deal originally agreed to was that there be no such restitution (which is why the 53 have not received anything to this point), if someone is going to pay it, why is that someone the U.S. Taxpayer?
Didn\’t President Obama and Secretary Of State Kerry just agree to a “deal” that will free over $100 billion dollars of Iran\’s money?
Why isn\’t Ithe “restitution” being paid from that?
And that\’s before we get to asking about why it is so much. And why other people who have been held hostage are not getting a multi-million dollar payoff too. And why military families who have lost their loved ones in that part of the world get the tiniest fraction of that amount.
I know I\’m supposed to get all sorts of warm fuzzies over this. But, to tell you the truth, I\’m not.
