CNN RUNNING SCARED

This colloquy actually took place between CNN show host Jake Tapper (who used to be a great deal more credible) and Carl Bernstein, who has been riding his renown for helping to take down Richard Nixon for the past 45 years (when was the last time you remember him doing anything else of note?):

From Curtis Houck’s article at newsbusters.org:

Tapper opened the floor to Bernstein and the famous former Washington Post reporter complained that “[w]e don’t know enough because we haven’t seen the whole, underlying picture, as the Democrats have pointed out, but there’s a much more important historical point to be made here and that we may well have not seen such dark days for American democracy and its institutions since the days of Joe McCarthy.”

Bernstein knocked Trump as a “demagogic authoritarian…using this red herring to contend that there is a witch hunt going on when, in fact, there is a legitimate investigation” in the form of the Trump-Mueller probe.

After insinuating that Russia’s Vladimir Putin won the election for Trump against Hillary Clinton to “ruinous” and “stunning” ends, he added that Republicans will “[h]opefully…get hold of their senses” and accept that “Donald Trump is using this to avoid legitimate investigation and to poison the are institutions of American democracy.”

A reminder:  these two are talking about the release of a memo detailing what appear to be major abuses by the FBI and DOJ, including withholding key information from a FISA judge to get a warrant enabling them to investigate Donald Trump.  And the investigation itself was supposed to be about Trump’s collusion with Russia, which we have seen not one bit of evidence to support.

CNN has gone neck-deep into for the past year, by putting its reputation, such as it is, on the line to push this narrative.  But now the narrative is falling apart, leaving CNN out to dry.

The above exchange, therefore,  is CNN running scared.

And given the network’s stake in this Russian collusion non-story, I can’t say I blame them.

  • I wonder how the judge(s) feel(s) about this? Judges don’t like it when they are lied to. I hope he subpoenas the people involved in getting the warrants and locks them up for contempt while they await prosecution for treason.
