THE FINAL JANUARY 6 COMMITTEE HEARING?

Remember the January 6 Committee – also known as the Kangaroo Kommittee, because it is comprised of 7 Democrats and two Republicans (neither of whom will be in congress after this term) who have made it clear they hate Trump every bit as much as Democrats do?

Well, in the immortal words of that little girl from Poltergeist II, “they’re ba-a-a-ack”.

On Wednesday, the Kangaroo Kommittee will hold another – billed as possiby the final – “investigative hearing”.  The “hearings”, of course, have been entirely one-sided affairs in which not one person who spoke or testified was ever cross-examined in any way.  With a committee constructed entirely of one side, who would be there to do it?

And what will they do at this hearing?

From an article at ABC News, via msn.com:

“We’re not disclosing yet what the focus will be. I can say that, as this may be the last hearing of this nature — that is, one that is focused on sort of the factual record — I think it’ll be potentially more sweeping than some of the other hearings,” Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“But it too will be in very thematic,” he said of the hearing. “It will tell the story about a key element of Donald Trump’s plot to overturn the election. And the public will certainly learn things it hasn’t seen before, but it will also understand information it already has in a different context by seeing how it relates to other elements of this plot.”

“Plot to overturn the election”?  This, from the man who told us he had “ample evidence” that Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 elections – evidence we are still waiting for him to produce.

And what will happen after these hearings conclude?

From the same article:

After the committee’s vice-chair, Rep. Liz Cheney, said Saturday that she believes the group will move forward unanimously, Schiff agreed and went a bit further when asked if there was going to be an unanimous criminal referral made about the former president’s conduct. (Trump has repeatedly said he did nothing wrong and cast the committee, which includes two Republicans, as partisan.)

“It will be … my recommendation, my feeling, that we should make referrals,” Schiff said. “But we will get to a decision as a committee, and we will all abide by that decision, and I will join our committee members if they feel differently.”

What a shock.  Who would have thought?

And don’t you love that toss-in about Trump calling the committee partisan even though it includes two Republicans?  Is that supposed to convince people that it was a bipartisan effort?  Is ABC News counting on the public being that ignorant of how this committee was put together?  (Sadly, if that is their intention, they’ll probably find plenty of people just as ignorant as they hope.)

So get ready.  The January 6 Kangaroo Kommittee is about to provide its grand finale.  Timed just perfectly in the middle of the midterm elections.

See if you’re as “impressed” as I am.
