THE EBOLA DISASTER IN PROGRESS

How is the ebola disaster progressing….and how long before it hits the USA big-time?

Excerpted from James Rush\’s article at London\’s Independent:

Thespread of Ebola across Europe is “quite unavoidable”, theWorld Health Organisation has warned as four people were in hospitalafter a Spanish nurse became the first person known to havecontracted the virus outside Africa.

WHO European director Zsuzsanna Jakab has said while more cases will spread in Europe, the continent should be well prepared to control the disease.

Healthofficials in Spain today said four people – the nurse, her husbandand two others – were being monitored in hospital in a bid to stemthe spread of the virus.

“Suchimported cases and similar events as have happened in Spain willhappen also in the future, most likely,” Ms Jakab told Reuters.

“Itis quite unavoidable … that such incidents will happen in thefuture because of the extensive travel both from Europe to theaffected countries and the other way around,” she said.  MsJakab said European health workers were most at risk of becominginfected, but added that “the most important thing in our viewis that Europe is still at low risk and that the western part of theEuropean region particularly is the best prepared in the world torespond to viral haemorrhagic fevers including Ebola.”

Lots of luck, Spain.  The fact that you have ebola coming to your country is no problem at all.  Zsuzsanna Jakab says so, and that ends the issue, right?

Right?

What was it that Ms. Jakab said?  “It is quite unavoidable…that such incidents will happen in the future because of the extensive travel both from Europe to the affected countries and the other way around”?

Now substitute USA for Europe.  Then think about the fact that air travel continues unabated between the affected countries and here.  What do you get?

And then think about the 4,000 troops Barack Obama has ordered to the affected areas, where at least some of them are going to have up-close-and-personal contact with ebola….and then, presumably, come in contact with the rest of our troops.  Explain why he is doing this.  Find a reason that makes sense.  I dare you.

That is the ebola disaster in progress.

Expect more.  Expect worse.  Expect it soon.
